Minahasa Highland Tour with Pulisan Jungle Beach Resort

This is an easy, relaxing tour exploring the Minahasa volcanic highland area.

In the morning our minibus will pick you up at Kinunang village and take you to the Lake Tondano which at an altitude of app. 700 m stretches out in a volcanic caldera.

The trip will take you along the scenic Minahasa farming villages located at the lake shore where fish husbandry, flower, vegetable, rice, corn, clove and vanilla growing is predominant.

From the Minahasa capital township of Tondano you will drive along a panoramic road with spectacular views of Klabat mountain (1997 m) and the Moluccan sea to Rurukan and Tomohon.

After a short visit of Tomohon market to look for smoked rats continue to Lahendong and stroll along the colour changing lake Linow which is rich in sulphur and thermal activity.

After that continue to Sonder and Kiawa villages, the centre of clove production, and have a look at a unique family grave. Visit the ancient Watu Pinawetengan, the Minahasa sacred stone of origin. Pass by the traditional pottery village of Pulutan and then have lunch in a Remboken local fish restaurant at the Tondano lakeside.

Before returning to Pulisan Jungle Beach Resort stop by at Sawangan to admire the 144 ancient Waruga tomb stone sarcophagus collected here.
